Preston’s premier shopping destination will be hosting a free event to show their support for Place2Be’s Children’s Mental Health Week. The mental health charity is bringing focus to the importance of looking after emotional wellbeing from an early age and this year’s theme is ‘Find Your Brave ‘.

On Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th February, children of Preston can find their brave through fitness in St George’s “little commandos” style event.  The activity is led by Commando Joe, an enterprising army leader, who is on a mission to help kids feel confident, learn important life skills and experience a positive behaviour change by putting them through their paces! First, kids will have their faces painted in camo green. Next, they will take part in Joe’s obstacle course complete with commando crawl, beanbag toss and much more. Finally, on completing the course, kids can customise a certificate to take home to celebrate their accomplishment.

Andrew Stringer, St George’s Centre Manager commented: “As a centre at the heart of the community, we want to be part of important conversations such as children’s mental health. We have lots of families shopping with us and want them to be aware of Place2Be’s cause and how they can get support if they need it. Fitness has been proven to help mental wellbeing and by offering this free event to families, we hope to have a positive impact on our young visitors. This is the first of many community events we plan to host during 2020 and encourage shoppers to keep an eye out for our future events.
