St George’s Shopping Centre is delighted to announce that famous British clothing and homeware retailer, Matalan, will be opening a brand new set of doors in the centre later this year.
The retailer opened its first ever set of doors in the UK back in 1985 in Preston City Centre and is now making another mark on the town by occupying 26,000 sq. ft. of retail space in St George’s Shopping Centre. The store will be combining the former Poundworld unit and a sizable amount of unused, vacant mall area. The store is due to open and begin trading as of autumn this year and will offer the brands extensive list of women’s, men’s and children’s wear, as well as homeware and furniture. The addition is also expected to create a large number of jobs in the local community.
Antony Darbyshire, Director of Property at Matalan, commented: “We are so happy to be back in Preston to open our second Matalan store in the area. Preston is where it all began for us, with the very first Matalan store back in 1985. We are so proud and excited to be opening this store and can’t wait for our customers to be able to shop there soon.”
Andrew Stringer, Centre Manager of St George’s Shopping Centre, commented: “The centre team is delighted to announce the opening of new anchor tenant Matalan to the shopping centre. The significant investment will certainly enhance the existing offer as well as utilising the space available within the centre. We believe that Matalan will complement the current mix of retailers St George’s already has on offer as well as allowing us to provide an even wider selection. We are looking forward to the store opening its doors later this year and wish them every success.”
